Every year we celebrate Independence with such merriment and enthusiasm we like going green and singing songs at least i do . we like to show our patriotism and go all emotional about it.
Pakistan gained Independence on 14,Aug 1947 after a lot of struggle and hard work from the Muslims of sub-continent,thousands and millions of lives sacrificed their lives so .. don't these lines sound familiar from your text book or the speeches you hear every year on t.v and radio and in your school functions . ah well i wont repeat any of that because i am sure that even if you yawned your way through the speeches or bunked your Pakistan studies class or whatever still you are aware of it .
Lets look around too whats happening around these days dams bursting with water the whole of Punjab is flooded , the plane crash , the tense situation in Karachi. The news channels all the discussions are just nerve recking. for people emotional like me they are enough to put us in depression and think haye kia hoga hamara , kon bachae ga is mulk ko and this is not just my problem its our problem thats what the people of this country do sit and think who will come and help us out of this misery certainly not our president he is out on an important tour about God knows what to Europe perhaps i should send a post card to him but that wont be much of a help either so i think the people of this country should stop waiting for the politicians to go straight or some fairy God mother to appear and wipe all our troubles away .
The people of this nation need to stop being couch potatoes and putting the blame on each other because thats what we do sit and watch the anchors who would bring in people from opposing parties and they would shift blames on each other trying to be in the good books of the nation to be called the beloved party or whatsoever telling us what they did and what others did not and we being the concerned spectators of this nation would watch it keenly and discuss the scenarios at home and thats all we are doing .
We gained independence years back but our are minds are still stuck in the box we are a nation who sits and criticizes puts the blame we are ungrateful and disrespectful to this country. we are not ready to take steps or stand up for ourselves or to help this nation out of misery we are just waiting for miracles to happen and they wont happen just like that :l .
Allah has blessed this country with everything the four seasons , the beautiful amazing natural beauty ( and i mean it literally been there seen it and am sure many of you have ) raw talent ( i mean people like naseem winning Olympics just by running in streets ) , natural resources (salt mines , coal , natural gas, wood, stones, marble) woha !!! we have a lot more then we think we do to explore and take advantage of and use it and value it .
Lets get up and take steps voting the right people , getting the right degrees ,getting into politics , youth parliaments and groups , being honest and loyal at our level . Starting something as small maybe teaching your servant or taking litter out at the right place , recycling and all and perhaps spending money on concerts and flags and arranging parties to celebrate independence we can spend that money on relief packages for the people affected by flood.
We need Independence of mind , free will to speak , Independence from corruption and dishonesty , Independence from foreign powers, Independence from racism ,Independence from inflation and poverty and our Independence to happiness
My eyes sparkled to see the big green flag . i took so much interest to decorate my home with the paper flags and wore a badge to school from the start of the month . i took pride in doing all that and i don't think that it's any different today because your country is like your mother and for instance if your mother is sick or old or she gets hurt you don't start bull shitting about her or abandon her you still love her and thats the way i will love this country as i did and as i will.
May God bless this country and give us the courage to take steps and stand up because everyone one of us holds the power to change .
why do u have to be sooo good !!
ReplyDeletethis is awsome and mind awaking !!
I agree. It's weird how, whenever the 14th of August comes around, everyone is always, ALWAYS there to cheer Pakistan on. They cheer our country not because so many poor people are dying, not because a jackass is ruling the nation, not because of a poor economical/social/domestic system; and also not because of prostitution, homicide, or corruption; but because, bhaiyon, it's PAKISTAN day! But do they really realize what our ancestors went through? Do they realize, how, the India-to-Pakistan migration was a *mass* migration. It was an exodus, I guess, until fights broke out. It, indeed, was among the most momentous events in history. Khair, I haven't done much for Pakistan myself but I sure wish some one does. Anyway, here, on Pakistan day young boys get drunk and shout perverted insults at girls who dance on stage(they ask for it :P). It is a free event held by some community group. is this Pakistan day to me? No. Of course it isn't. Like Ali Azmat once mentioned in his song, Azaadi, "Junoon se, aur ishq se, milti hai azaadi. Qurbaani ki bahon main milti hai azaadi."
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, HAREEM! Love you. This is amazing. Keep up the good work.
I did bunk my Pakistan studies class many many times. But I love and respect Pakistan, not just on 14th August. But every single day of the year. Though it's a bit frustrating when the light goes out while you're sleeping in bed and wake up all sweaty and agonized by the mosquitoes, BUT there is no country like Pakistan. <3
